The Bachelorette Japan Launches on Amazon Prime Video
Looking for a show to binge? Amazon Prime Video has got you covered with the debut of The Bachelorette Japan. Similar to its original format, 17 men will be vying for the love of one lucky bachelorette.
Valentine’s Day is still a few months away but Amazon Prime Video has an early gift for its subscribers – the Japanese adaptation of hit show The Bachelorette.
The Bachelorette Japan follows the same concept as The Bachelor Japan, but with the gender-role reversed. Instead of the male, the leading lady will go on a journey to find her future partner from a pool of good-looking and eligible young men. The bachelors will try to impress the bachelorette on dates, and the guys who win her attention are given roses, while the rest are sent home.
About Japan’s First Bachelorette
Japan’s bachelorette is a 32-year-old model, sports traveler, nutritionist, and TV personality Moeko Fukuda from Okinawa. The lady finished third when she joined the Miss Universe Japan beauty pageant in 2010. Since then, she has appeared in many variety programs, films, and dramas. She has also worked with big Hollywood names like Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, and director David Fincher.
To say that the debut bachelorette of the show is interesting is an understatement. Currently, she’s studying different languages, as well as learning to play the koto. According to Fukuda, she loves to travel and she has been to more than 30 countries.
“It’s a show about decisions: What kind of date to go on? Who to invite? Who gets a rose? You have to be decisive and take responsibility for your choices. That’s an obvious but important message in life. We can’t sit around and wait for others to tell us what to do. You create your own destiny and need to be proactive. I think viewers can relate to that,” Fukuda shared.
When asked why she agreed to be a part of the show, she said that the timing was just right. She initially did not think it would be a show she would like to do, but breaking up with her boyfriend of six months changed her mind.
The Popular ABC reality dating series has also been greenlighted in Italy, Mexico, India, Germany, UK, and Spain. The show is set to be available in over 200 countries.
